Terminator and Transformers

I was sent to photograph a robotic demonstration at Sandia National Labs the other day. Scientist were demonstrating how this particular robot could detect dangerous situations near the border for Homeland Security. The odd thing about this assignment that it takes place near the spot where the movie Terminator Salvation was filmed over a year ago. The picture resembles a robot searching for some humans in a post apocalyptic landscape.

Photojournalist Roberto Rosales (b. 1969) is a native of El Salvador. In 1980 he was forced to flee the violence during the country’s civil war. He moved to the USA where he attended school and began a new life. After graduating from the University of New Mexico, he returned to El Salvador where he taught his first workshops to local newspaper photography staffs. He returned to the states in 1998 and a landed a job as a staff photographer for the Albuquerque Journal. Currently, in addition to working on daily assignments for the Journal, he is pursuing a project in El Salvador documenting the daily lives of local fishermen around the Gulf of Fonseca.
